Who works on Bone Dexter
Bone Dexter is an all volunteer crew of people who are passionate enough about the topics of kink and gear to devote time and energy towards the monumental task of cataloging everything. Most of us aren't experts, but fellow consumers of the products covered by Bone Dexter who want to improve the experience of researching and shopping for that perfect next toy or piece of gear.
In order to prevent conflicts of interest and ensure the safety of everyone involved, all members of the team must meet the below criteria:
- Not a Maker - To ensure that all information is as unbiased as possible on Bone Dexter, no member of the team can be a current maker who makes and sells or trades any product covered by Bone Dexter. We are a consumer first group, and our members need to reflect that.
- Be 21 or Older - Bone Dexter covers adult content, and as such, everyone on the team must be a legal adult. No exceptions.
- Be Part of the Community - This one is a little more open ended but has two core meanings. The first is that a person is either taking part in the community itself, engaging in places where they can be seen working well with others, or they can show that they know their stuff, being able to identify makers, models, etc because of all their time spent on the subject. The second is that a person gels with the team. Individual personal squabbles aren't an issue, but we're all adults and need to act like one. Everyone on the team needs to be able to resolve differences between themselves and others with respect.
Standards in Data Collection
Being an all volunteer crew working to catalog things for which there are no set standards or requirements in data disclosure and advertising, there are going to be times when just copying the data from a maker's store page isn't enough. Sometimes wording will need to be changed for clarity, and other times information will be lacking entirely. when this happens, we'll make it clear whether data came from a maker directly, if we changed something, or if something just isn't available. Sometimes we'll make a best guess at something if it feels obvious, but we'll be sure to emphasis when this happens that the information should be scrutinized and judged by the user for themselves.
In the event that we're unsure about some information or something is missing, Bone Dexter's team will make a best effort to reach out to a maker to clarify or fill in the missing details.
Working with Makers
As a consumer first site, Bone Dexter will make every attempt to keep friendly and professional channels of communication open to the makers that we cover. If we notice something off about a maker's page, or if we see errors in a model's store page, we'll do our best to notify that maker and seek clarification. If we get something wrong, if we're missing context, or if a maker just wants to let us know some fun trivia behind a model, we want to hear about it! However, edits and additions to pages must be done so without any bias. To avoid a situation where there might be an incentive for any member of our team to give any maker special treatment, the following rules will be upheld:
- No member of the team may receive free products or discount codes as a result of their work on Bone Dexter. No gifts, no free samples, no special discounts, no special workshop tours. Everything we do, we do because we feel it's the best job we can do.
- If something doesn't add up, we'll say so. While a maker may disagree with us on the specifics of how something is presented or stated, it's important to state when something doesn't line up with the available facts. We'll do our best to provide the maker's side of the story as well as state where and why we disagree. Only the reader can decide for themselves who is correct in the matter, and decide if it matters to them.
